Where does Showstopper Kid's Club operate?

We are a travelling workshop and currently accept bookings for any London location within the M25.

How long are the sessions that you run?

We have a suite of individual workshops that can be booked in isolation, or that can be booked in combination to curate a full day of activities.  They range from one to three hours in length each.

Our 'Introduction to Theatre' workshop is a full day's programme.

We are happy to work with venues and organisations to tailor content to best fit the time you have available in the space.  Do please get in touch via our enquiry form to make potential requests for adaptation.

What age ranges do you cater for?

Our sessions are for school-aged children and our content is tailored for three distinct age ranges: under 7 year olds, 7 - 11 year olds and 12 - 16 year olds.

Is there any limit to the number of children that can join per session?

Accepted Answer

Our workshops function best with small group sizes of between 5 and 12 participants max.  Larger group sessions are not out of the question, however, so do drop us a note and let us know what you'd like to plan if you have more participants in mind.

Do children need any prior theatrical training to take part?

We cater to all levels of experience from absolute beginners to seasoned child actors.

Are your workshops linked to the UK National Curriculum?

Our school workshops are designed to compliment teachings in Key Stages 1 - 3 for English and Drama.  We can cover any dramatic text or topic and can create a bespoke set of activities to suit your aims.  From Aristophanes to Émile Zola and everything in between, do drop us a note to enquire and we'll let you know if we can cover your topic of choice.

When should I make my booking?

Accepted Answer

We recommend making your booking at least one month in advance of your required date, particularly if you require our content to be tailored to any specific learning aims you wanted to meet.  We also need to ensure our resources are adequately stocked for your group, so that gives us enough time.

If you have no specific learning aims for your session and it's just pure and simple theatre fun that you're after, we can take your booking with just two week's notice.

Do we need to factor in any set-up time?

We require access to the hall at least 40 minutes before your workshop time to set up.  We'll also require 30 minutes at the end to disassemble.

Do you have any technical requirements?

Accepted Answer

Workshops can take place in any hall greater than 8m x 10m.  We generally require one clear wall surface to which our theatre style dressing can be attached.  We have other dressing and objects that we frequently use, depending on the planned activities.

Please drop us a note via the enquiry form to let us know about your intended space and we can discuss options.  We can offer portable framing that is available for hire if there are constraints with wall space.

Question 10

My child is shy, will he/she/they have to perform?

Our workshops feature a wide range of activities with opportunities to play games, to take part in specialist theatrical exercises, to get crafty with making props or costume elements and also to perform.  We hope children will take part in as many activities as they possibly can during their time with us to get the maximum benefit of our experience, but participation is always optional, and we respect every child's comfort level and readiness to participate.

Our activities are designed to help build confidence but, we recognise that children will engage and participate in different ways, and at different paces.  We strive to keep our workshops relaxed and supportive.

Are your workshops suitable for neurodivergent and/or SEND children?

We would like to welcome all children to participate in our workshops and strive to provide an inclusive environment.  Our staff do not currently hold any specialist qualifications or formal credentials to cater specifically for SEND requirements, but we strive to understand the individual learning profile of each participant and are very happy to discuss adapting our content and teaching methods to better suit individual needs, where possible.
